Shooting Range for the Blind-Tex (2008)

This is a song that I made last year after coming out of a hiatus. Its a pretty creepy track that has clips from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie in it, hence the name "Tex". Its definitely in the down-tempo/ambient category. You can preview it on my myspace page, and you can download it here if you like it. Enjoy!

Hand of Mercy-Scum of the Earth (2009)

This album is the follow up to Trash the Party, and i've been waiting for what seemed liked forever for it. It was worth the wait. The first track, "Stacks On" will make you wanna start a mosh pit in your car. This album is tough and reminds me why i love hardcore. The lyrics are clear and in your face, every song is guaranteed to incite a mosh pit. The last song "Crust" seems out of place, but has a circlepit feel to it. Ever since Keith stopped singing for Throwdown, I've only found 2 replacement bands that are as good, Parkway Drive and Hand of Mercy. I would love to see these guys live if they ever came to the US. Definitely check em out!

xThe Warx-Confront EP (2009)

So I had a chance to listen this Ep from xThe Warx, and I gotta say, not impressed. I've been listening to straight edge hardcore for about 8 years now, and the one thing I believe is essential to straight edge music is that the lyrics can be heard and understood. The singer in this band sounds like he's gurgling glass and trying to sound tougher than he is. The 6 songs seem to fly by with no track sticking out or making an impact, the first track "Kill" which is more like an intro is the only song with a good breakdown in it. Another thing i learned is that if you got x's surrounding your name, you gotta have those breakdowns, ha.

3OH!3-Want (2008)

This album is just straight up fun. Its two white guys that rap over some pretty awesome beats.
The lyrics are wacky about bitches and ho's but the music is so catchy and fun. Songs like "Don't trust me" and "Colorado Sunshine" are already classics in my music library. I've played this for everyone who's rode in my car and they all love it. On a side note, I believe this band is responsible for all the shitty rap/screamo bands that have emerged in the past year, such as Brokencyde, Millionaires, Dot Dot Curve, and many more. These bands are terrible, their music is garbage and I hope they all disapear real soon.

A Day To Remember-Homesick (2009)

I am a huge ADTR fan, been since their first album on Indianola Records. Ever since "You had me at hello" became me and my girlfriend's song, they have held a special place in my heart, and I will probably listen to everything they put out. This album is really good. Thier last album, For Those Who Have Heart was very different from 'Treason, and Homesick is very far from the direction of FTWHH. Homesick starts off with the song "The Downfall of us All" which is a song that is just asking for a mosh pit to erupt at the shows. Its a breakdown that breaks for Jeremy's poppy singing and some gang vocals. This song is a great opener for the album as well as a show. The rest of the album flows together, as you listen to the album you hear that this band is more solid than ever and will be around for a while. The song that sticks out the most to me is "I'm made of Wax, larry what are you made of?" with guest vocals from Mike of TDWP. Other guests include Vince of Acacia Strain and Sierra of Versa Emerge.

The Devil Wears Prada-With Roots Above and Branches Below (2009)

This is the bands 3rd studio release, their first release on Ferret Records. They start the album off with a song that explodes right in the beginning and never lets up, and sets the tone for the rest of the album, crushing rhythms and soaring clean vocals that break in over Mike Hranica's brutal screaming that never seems to tire. The album doesn't break through any new musical barriers or set any new standards, its just a really fun album to listen to and the whole album flows really well. The slow song, "Louder than Thunder" adds a nice touch to the album and sounds really good, its full of emotion.

Shooting Range for the Blind-The Vault (2006)

This album is a collection of my earlier stuff, the songs are random
and were created over the course of 2 years, so they don't really flow
together but they stand on their own pretty well. Its crazy mix of
techno, drum & bass, rock, and down-tempo ambiance. Enjoy!

HI. I created a blog because i love blogs, and i love music. I named it out of a unhealthy love of dawson's creek. I made this blog for album reviews and to post my own music (Shooting Range for the Blind). The Burden of a Day review is just a test to see how this whole thing works, not an actual post, so don't think that i suck just yet. Leave comments and tell me what you think, and post a link on your blog, so everyone can know about this badical blog. Thanx!
